Running Linux on your WINDOWS machine

The linux have always been thought of a difficult operating system to work on by Window's user. Even though having multiple advantages in terms of memory usage, security etc, linux based distributons are still limitd to people who are more technology oriented. I ws never good with Linux commands either but I always had interest in learning it, but many people today also think that linux is diificult to work upon and has an preception that linux consists is only about learning lots and lots of commands ,even now when most of linux distributions come with a handy UI.  Well this article I am writing  as I was inspired by am article i read on web about using Linux on windows operating system using different ways:

1) Using LIVE CDs /USBs

2) Installling Linux distro on the Virtual machine

3) Running Linux on your Internet browser

Using Live CDs/USBs : Using Live  CDs/USBs  you can run any operating system over your host os. It is one of the best ways to learn and review any kind of operating system . The Live CD will run the operating system but will not install it on your hard disk,it basically runs on your CD however it does uses your computer RAM. The Live  CD/USBs willl provide a complete environment on the operating system but will not install any application on it. So if you are interested in learning new linux distribution features and also does not want any installation on your system the LIVE CD is a saviour for you. 

For creating  a bootable pen drive you need an empty pen drive andUnetbootin software. For creating LIVE CDS we actually can download the live cd iso images on your computer and burn to a CD disk .Now insert the CD into Cd drive "(or USB to the usb port) and reboot your computer.

Installing the Linux Distribution on Virtual Machine: This is another method which involves the installation of linux distribution on the virtual box (however there is also an option available where in you can just use the LIVE version of the distribution ie no need to install the OS simply run a LIVE version on your virtual box). While in LIVE version we cannot install any software or make any permanent changes  to the operating system, in the installation of the distribution we can make permanent changes to the operating system . We can install software, make wireless network connections, and the installed os behaves as guest OS (in this case any Linux distribution)for the host OS(in this case Windows).

Using LINUX on your web browser : well here comes the most interesting part . I was just surfing net for  usual technological stuff when i found an article about  how we can run linux on the web browser. Actually there is a site called edubuntu.org that is basically a promotes the use of Linux in schools for Kids. For that they have created an linux distribution based on UBuntu framework called edubuntu and provides a web application to test the look and feel of the distribution. All you need to do is click on the site http://edubuntu.org/weblive and fill up the form. you donot have to login or give your email address  in the form,just provide the login name and password and submit it. The next process is very well explained on the site itself. The site provides 2hrs of free usage and if you want to continue further just fill the form and click on "Give It  Try" and agin you can use the Linux distro edubuntu on your windows machine for 2hrs.

Wikitude - Real Time Information Browser

Wikitude is a augmented browser that shows us the information of all the nearby places within a specific distance. It uses google maps and compass to show the location statistics on your phone screen. Initially when I download the app I was not sure what exactly it was showing me on my phone screen ,these were the nearest locations from my office, for example it was showing me all the buildings nearby my office.

This app can search places up to distance of  maximum limit 80 km . Apart from places I can also search people on twitter and foursquare with in that distance, I can also look at various pizza locations . Isn't it a different way of surfing places .

Wikitude includes twitter ,panoramio,youtube,booking.com ,flickr,playmysong.net etc for surfing . To use wikitude install the application on your smartphone and click on the icon of wikitude, what you will see is the list of places start start floating over your smartphone screen.Also ask you click your application wikitude will calculate how many places are nearby (where it will show the buildings located within the area of 2Kms).

You can use wikitude if you own any smartphone be it android, an iphone, a blackberry, or nokia phone, wikitude is available for all and recently a new version of wikitude is also released for android version 3 is honeycomb devices.So installing wikitude is surely going to be an enriching experience.
