Lets stop searching and start Stumbling

With smartphones in our lives everything is an application. Just browse the applications on the market place  of that OS and download one you like and use it. Some time back I read an article on importance of libraries. After reading the article I realized that libraries allows us to browse books of our interest and on internet most of what we do is searching a particular topic coz what google finds out for us are the search results for a keyword given. But sometimes...no almost all the time i am not looking for anything specific but all I want is to just browse the area of my interest. so I found this app for my phone called Stumbl.

StumbleUpon is a discovery engine which lets me browse the areas of my interset without every time me specifying what i want to look for.I just have to download the app create an account for me add my interests and Phew.... with every swype on my screen i get a something new to look for something new to explore. If I want I can also connect to my facebook and twitter friends and share anything interesting on facebook, twitter, gmail. etc.

I can like and unlike the results and based on that the content gets filtered next time I browse . In technical terms it uses collaborative filtering of content using the user opinions to create a community of like minded web surfers.

To use stummbleupon on your android device download and install the app on your device. once the application starts it asks you to create an account and gives you a choice to make it through your facebook account.

Next step is to add your interests .There are more than 150 interests and stumble shows  you the popular interests too . choose your interests . The application then prompts you to add FB friends also so if you want you can do that too.

I find this application pretty cool and it is availale as an add on for Firefox and extension for google chrome. so you can even use your browser to use stumble upon.It is also available for iphone.

so if you are not looking for anything specific then DON'T GOOGLE IT ..just STUMBLEUPON :)
